Applies to: Programme titles or descriptions appear in one language while the playing programme uses another.
The useful distinctions
- Guide text can have language-specific labels.
- A textual translation is not a programme audio track.
- The actual programme edition still needs identification.
Identify which language belongs to which layer
A guide can present a translated title while describing the same programme that is spoken in its original language. That difference is not automatically an incorrect schedule. Record the listing’s wording and the programme speech as separate observations. A language tag or translated description helps identify text; it does not establish that a dubbed track exists, that a player can switch to it, or that every episode shares the same language options.
Turn the complaint into a precise request
Ask whether the viewer wants a different guide-text language, a different audio edition or subtitles. These require different evidence. Preserve the complete programme title and episode so that a translated search label does not obscure which work is being discussed. If the programme itself is wrong, return to service and episode identity. If the work is correct but the speech is not the desired language, the question is about that programme edition rather than the guide clock.
Hypothetical worked example
A fictional listing calls a programme “The Orchard” in English on 8 November 2026, while the programme is spoken in French. The episode and start time agree with the intended service. The viewer now asks whether an English audio edition or English subtitles are actually available for that episode. Changing the guide’s title language would not by itself create the requested media track.
A focused way to proceed
- Record the displayed title and its language.
- Record the programme’s observed speech separately without assuming a track guarantee.
- Ask about the intended edition or text preference as the specific unresolved question.
When to stop or ask for help
State the required text, audio or subtitle outcome and ask about the specific programme edition.
