Applies to: Samsung Smart TV/projector interfaces with the documented app controls

The useful distinctions

  • Home-screen removal differs from app deletion.
  • A tile can be moved separately.
  • Some recommended apps cannot be deleted.

State the goal in plain terms

Samsung distinguishes removing a Home-screen entry from deleting an installed application. The first changes the route you see in the launcher; the second changes what is installed. Decide which goal you mean before selecting a similarly worded control. A television shared by several people may need a cleaner Home Screen without removing an application someone still uses.

Check the application identity

A programme recommendation, an input shortcut and an installed app tile can be different destinations. Identify the selected entry before making the change. If you only want a player nearer the beginning of the row, use the documented Move operation rather than deleting and reinstalling it. That keeps the adjustment small and avoids unnecessary setup work.

Verify the right outcome

After a launcher change, inspect the normal Home Screen and then confirm how the application can still be opened through the installed-app interface. If the aim was deletion, inspect that separate installed state rather than judging from the missing tile alone. A recommendation that cannot be deleted may be governed by different product rules; do not interpret every unavailable Delete option as a fault.

A focused way to proceed

  1. Locate the intended Home-screen tile.
  2. Hold Select and inspect Remove or Move.
  3. Confirm the launcher change you intended.
  4. Use App Settings only when actual app deletion is the goal.

Worked example · synthetic

Hypothetical comparison: a viewer removes a player tile from Home and later discovers that the player is still listed in Apps. That is consistent with a launcher-only change. If the actual goal was storage recovery, the next task is reviewing the installed-app controls rather than repeatedly removing the same shortcut.

When to stop or ask for help

Use the current model’s documentation when labels differ or an app is protected from deletion. Avoid a Smart Hub reset merely to rearrange a tile; that changes substantially more state.
