- A manual collection is assigned through collection tags or Add to Collection.
- Items share membership through the same collection name.

- Deleting the collection does not delete its media items.
Curate for a real browsing need
A collection is useful when the relationship itself helps someone choose what to watch. Write a short purpose before adding items: a three-part workshop programme or a set of related fictional films. That purpose limits accidental membership. Keep the collection name stable so a minor spelling difference does not create a second almost-identical group that appears empty or incomplete.
Make the sequence explicit
A curated order can differ from alphabetic or release-year order. Decide which sequence makes sense for this collection and review it on the collection page. The worked example uses original training material to show why order may matter. Do not assume that a group with the correct members is finished until the intended browsing and playback sequence has been inspected in the relevant client.
Maintain the group as metadata
When a member is removed or replaced, review the collection rather than assuming it remains coherent. A collection can keep a useful description even while temporarily empty, so inspect its purpose before discarding it. Removing a grouping should be treated separately from deleting recordings. Keep a simple member list with your catalogue notes so a future rebuild can restore the human decision behind the collection.
