Confirm the underlying file first
A wrong poster can be caused by a wrong identity, but it can also distract from a file attached to the wrong item. Inspect the media path before correcting the match. Write down the intended title and release year from a reliable catalogue for the material you actually own. This separates an identity correction from a cosmetic edit and gives you a stable target for the search.
Use search information deliberately
Start with the correct title and year and adjust language only when it helps identify the intended work. If using a provider ID, verify it rather than copying an unrelated example. The synthetic search plan contains no real database number because the number must identify a real work to be meaningful. For television, correct the series identity before investigating an episode-order difference.
Check the downstream result
After matching, inspect more than the new poster. Confirm the year, plot and attached path, then inspect a representative episode if the item is a show. A correct series with the wrong episode order is a separate issue and should not be repeatedly rematched. Preserve a note of the final identity and relevant ordering choice so the correction can be reproduced after a future library rebuild.

- Open the intended item’s details and verify its local file path.
- Choose the additional-actions menu and Fix Match or Match.
- Use Search Options with the intended title/year or a genuinely verified supported ID.
- Select the correct identity and allow metadata retrieval to finish.
