Mark meaningful sections
Bookmarks work best when each one answers a real navigation need, such as finding the start of a demonstration or returning to a comparison. Avoid marking every minute simply because the control is available. Keep a written timestamp index for especially important recordings so the section plan remains useful even if application state is later rebuilt or the video is opened in another player.
Keep navigation separate from editing
Adding a bookmark does not cut the recording or create a new independently playable file. That distinction matters when preparing material for somebody else: a recipient who receives only the video may not receive your Kodi state. Use embedded chapters or an accompanying timestamp list when navigation must travel with the media, and retain personal bookmarks for the convenience of the local library.
Check the landing point
Return to each bookmark before relying on it during a session. A useful marker lands early enough to preserve the first sentence or action, even if the seek is not frame-exact. If a combined episode file needs individual episode starts, use the dedicated episode-bookmark workflow and review watched-state behavior separately. Do not infer that each section has its own independent progress record just because it has a navigation point.
A focused way to proceed
- Play the authorised recording and pause near the desired section.
- Open the OSD bookmark control and choose Create Bookmark.
- Repeat for a few meaningful section starts.
- Return through the bookmark window and check each destination.
