Applies to: Different household profiles appear to produce different language selections.

The useful distinctions

  • A language preference is distinct from a programme’s offered tracks.
  • Personal names and account identifiers can be sensitive support context.
  • A comparison needs the same programme edition before profile-related conclusions are useful.

Keep context without naming people

A profile label can be relevant if the household observes different selections under different preferences. The person’s real name, age or personal history usually adds nothing to that comparison. Use neutral labels in a shareable note and retain any necessary account identification only in an appropriate private conversation. The aim is to reproduce a selection context, not to publish who watches which programme or what every household member prefers.

Hold the programme constant

Before attributing a difference to profiles, compare the same edition and record its offered choices. If the observations involve different episodes or feeds, the track inventory may already explain the result. Do not assume how a product stores or synchronises preferences without documentation. A useful record states what preference was requested, what label was selected and what the viewer observed, leaving the internal cause open for investigation.

Hypothetical worked example

For invented edition HP-6, Profile A requests original audio and Profile B requests Spanish audio. A viewer records the visible choices and observed dialogue separately for both contexts on 8 November 2026. The public note uses those neutral profile labels rather than household names or screenshots of the account page. If the choices differ unexpectedly, support can investigate the same edition without receiving a list of personal viewing preferences.

A focused way to proceed

  1. Use neutral labels for the profiles in a shareable note.
  2. Record the requested preference and exact programme edition for each observation.
  3. Keep private account identification out of the public comparison.

When to stop or ask for help

Share the neutral comparison first; provide only the private account context that the verified support route actually needs.
