The useful distinctions

  • App Library can search installed applications.
  • Its groups are automatically organised.
  • New-download placement has a separate Home Screen preference.

Search before reinstalling

A player missing from one Home-screen page is not necessarily absent from the iPhone. Apple documents App Library as a separate way to find installed apps. Search the exact name rather than scanning only a familiar folder. This is especially useful after a layout change or when new applications are not configured to appear automatically on Home.

Confirm that the result is the app you mean

Look at the installed app’s identity before opening it. A similarly named store result is not the same evidence as finding the existing installation. Once the intended app opens, check its normal menu and leave account configuration alone unless that is the actual support task. A launch-location question should not create unnecessary licence or sign-in work.

Change future placement deliberately

The preference for newly downloaded apps answers a different question from locating an app already installed. Read the choice that applies to the current phone and decide where future icons should appear. Keep the distinction clear when helping someone remotely: where an icon is displayed, whether the software is installed and whether a service account works are three separate observations.

A focused way to proceed

  1. Navigate left through Home pages to App Library.
  2. Use its search field for the exact app name.
  3. Open the matching installed app.
  4. Inspect Home Screen & App Library settings only for future placement changes.

Worked example · synthetic

Hypothetical example: after installing an approved app, a viewer cannot see its icon on the first Home page. An App Library search finds and opens it. Reinstallation would have added no useful information; the relevant follow-up is the phone’s icon-placement preference if the viewer wants a different layout.

When to stop or ask for help

If the installed app cannot be found, inspect its legitimate store/account history before choosing another listing. Ask the device administrator about managed-device placement or installation restrictions.
