Applies to: After a guide update, a title or synopsis appears but the wider schedule still seems incomplete.
The useful distinctions
- A title and a synopsis are different programme details.
- One visible item does not establish a full day’s coverage.
- An update result should be described by what was actually observed.
Describe the success at its actual size
A new synopsis or current title is useful progress, but it answers only the question of that detail’s presence. Avoid calling the whole guide repaired until the intended viewing window has been checked. Keep the newly visible item and its date as positive evidence. Then identify what still appears missing: later programmes, a regional edition, an episode label or a description. These are separate checks rather than reasons to dismiss the observed improvement.
Use an acceptance check tied to the viewer’s need
If the viewer needs tonight’s schedule, inspect tonight’s relevant interval and at least one distinct programme boundary. If the need is simply a missing synopsis, checking that synopsis may be enough. Do not expand a narrow success into a promise about all channels, all dates or future updates. Recording both the recovered detail and the remaining scope gives support a clearer next task than repeatedly declaring the same update successful or unsuccessful without criteria.
Hypothetical worked example
On 8 November 2026, a fictional update restores the synopsis for “Garden Notes” at 18:00. The viewer can now read that description, but the 20:00–23:00 window remains empty. The correct report records the restored synopsis and the unresolved evening coverage separately. It does not label the whole guide complete, and it does not erase the genuine improvement because a different requirement remains unmet.
A focused way to proceed
- Record the newly visible programme detail.
- Check the intended date range and a second programme boundary.
- Report remaining gaps separately from the successful change.
When to stop or ask for help
State what the update restored and the exact remaining requirement before requesting another change.
